Project: Life After Use
Recycled yarn, PET yarn reclaimed from ocean waste, cotton backing
Life After Use is a textile form constructed from reclaimed ocean waste, shaped into an abstracted organic body. Though reintegrated into a system of aesthetic value, the material retains signs of instability, excess, and contamination. The sculpture resists resolution, appearing simultaneously playful and unsettled. Its surface texture and irregular form challenge narratives of redemption often associated with recycled materials. The work considers what remains unresolved when waste is aestheticized rather than transformed.
