Sculpture
Governing the Body is a wearable sculptural helmet constructed from waste materials that physically constrains the wearer’s movement and perception. The object operates as a governing structure, exerting authority through form rather than instruction. By limiting vision, balance, and posture, the work examines how systems discipline bodies without regard for identity, intention, or consent. The helmet makes visible how power can be embedded in material design rather than imposed externally. Control is enacted through proximity, weight, and structure—felt rather than declared.
